| Here’s what I love about fall…and it’s not Halloween or the plethora of good hair days! We are really in throws of autumn….. not a hint of summer left. I’m thrilled, since fall is my season of choice. I love the distinctive smells…piles of richly hued damp leaves, chimneys exhaling the first fires of the season, pumpkin pie, apple cider.
I also love to wear fragrance in the fall. I like to find the perfect balance between light and rich! Here are my fall favorites that I’ve snuffed out:

My Almost Mishap... The other day I showered, used my favorite vanilla-scented shampoo, coconut-scented conditioner, slathered lemon-verbena lotion and then spritzed my fragrance laced with jasmine. In the end, I smelled pretty delicious--but realized it could have been scent-sation overload. I did a little investigating, and here’s what I learned about mixing and layering scents: Shampoo and shower gel have about 1% fragrance –and are referred to as “rinse off” products –meaning relatively little scent is left. Lotions generally contain about 2%- 3% fragrance, and can linger a bit longer. Finally, EDT can contain as high as 20% fragrance. The general rule is that the EDT will dominate. To maximize the scent, it’s best to stick with ancillaries (lotions and gels) with the same smell.
